Albion Ventures makes 3x return from Opta exit


sport_field_170sqUK venture capital firm Albion Ventures has generated an “excellent return” of three times from its investment in Opta, which is being sold to Perform Group for £40m.

Albion first backed in Opta and has since invested £2.1m in the sports data and analysis provider over three rounds.

The company currently has 300 customers in 40 countries.

Albion managing partner Patrick Reeve said, “We have enjoyed partnering the company’s highly impressive management team through a period of rapid growth during which they have created a leading brand with the dominant position in their global market.

“This investment has generated an excellent return for our funds and underlines our strategy of backing strong management teams in high growth sectors. We wish the company well as it embarks on its next stage of its development.”

Earlier this year Albion sold Nelson House, a mental health rehabilitation hospital to a joint venture formed by Care UK and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for £8m, bagging a return of 1.4 times.
