Consumer-focused private equity firm Piper has boosted its team with the hire of Dan Stern as investment director.
Stern previously spent four years in the consumer team at 3i, where he worked on the acquisition of GO Outdoors and the sale of the restaurant chain Giraffe.
He will also join the board of group tuition and revision provider Justin Craig Education.
Stern joins Piper following a period of investment activity over the summer in which the company took stakes in Turtle Bay, the Caribbean restaurant group, and Orlebar Brown, the luxury menswear brand. Piper has now made four investments from its most recent £107m fund, which it raised in 2011.
