21 Aug 2012

An Apple accessories creator which has designed a device to turn iPads into Atari game systems has received a $15m financing round.

Trilogy Equity Partners led the Series B round for Discovery Bay Games, which makes a range of products designed to enhance Apple hardware and apps.

Computer hardware giant Logitech also took part in the funding round, which the company said it hoped would help it grow into the market leader for a new category of consumer products.

Trilogy chairman and CEO John Stanton said, “Discovery Bay Games has a strong team and a major opportunity to be out in front of a significant trend.”

Discovery Bay co-founder Craig Olson said, “We believe the market for iOS gaming accessories will unfold much the way the market for audio accessories unfolded when the iPod first took off.

“iPad, iPhone and iPod touch are the most exciting devices in the world for gaming.

“Working together with leading global brands, we’re laser-focused on making products that enhance those gameplay experiences.”
