Technology-focused private equity firm Siris Capital has hired Union Square Advisors partner Elias Mendoza as managing director of investment development and strategy.
Mendoza, pictured, was COO at Union Square and a senior banker across its technology and telecommunications-focused business.
He previously held senior positions at IBM including vice president and global head of corporate development, and spent more than 12 years at Morgan Stanley & Co.
A statement from Siris said, “Mr Mendoza’s background in both investment banking and leading corporate development at one of the world’s premier technology companies, will complement the existing resources and capabilities that the Siris team brings to bear in identifying, analyzing, and acquiring businesses in the telecommunications, technology and technology-enabled business service industries.”
AltAssets revealed in December 2012 that Siris had beaten its $600m hard cap for its first buyout fund since spinning out of SAC Capital earlier in the year.
The New York-based firm gathered almost $650m for technology, telecoms and technology-enabled business-focused Siris Partners II since officially launching the fund 15 months earlier.
That total was well above the firm’s $400m target for the vehicle, which will target control investments of between $250m and $1bn.
