15 Mar 2013

hand_deal_handshake_170sqGlobal investment firm Macquarie Group has hired former Morgan Stanley banker Brian Sauvigne to boost its US private equity practice.

Sauvigne has been made managing director in the firm’s New York-based financial sponsors group, an area he previously worked with at Morgan Stanley.

His appointment follows Jorge Mora being made Macquarie’s US head of financial sponsors and William Baumgart a fellow managing director in the department in August 2011.

Mora said, “We continue to grow our business with the financial sponsor community.

“Brian’s transactional experience and deep relationships across the community is well matched to the needs of our clients, and his consulting background brings an additional dimension of expertise.

“His appointment adds significantly to our resources and capabilities.”

Macquarie said it had committed more than $550m in equity, preferred equity and mezzanine debt in the US already this year, and underwritten more than $8.5bn in debt.

The firm, which was founded in 1969, operates in more than 70 office locations in 28 countries. It had more than $353bn of assets under management at the end of September 2012.
