Global buyout firm Advent International has hired two new independent regional advisors as it looks to dig out more opportunities in the Nordic region.
Birger Nergaard and Gunnar Rydning have both handed the Norway brief and will work alongside Sweden expert Simon Lindfors and overall Nordic advisor Jens Petter Hagen.
Nergaard established Verdane Capital in 1985 and was joined by Rydning a year later.
Together they built the venture firm into one of the largest in the Nordic region, actively taking roles on the boards of the companies they hoped to grow.
Nergaard also co-established the Norwegian Venture Capital Association in 1987, serving as its chairman and board member for several years.
In 2007 he was awarded the H.M. King Harald V gold medal for achievement for pioneering the Norwegian venture capital industry.
Hagen said, “We have known and have collaborated with Birger and Gunnar over many years and are delighted that they are joining our team in the Nordic region.
“It is clear that there are many great investment prospects in the Nordics and their experience and broad local networks across all business sectors will be invaluable in sourcing opportunities.”
