Private equity major KKR has joined forces with energy group Fleur de Lis Energy to make investments in producing oil and gas properties in North America.
Fleur de Lis Energy is focused on buying producing conventional and unconventional oil and gas assets in North America. The company’s founder Porter Trimble has led the acquisition of more than $6bn of upstream oil and gas assets.
KKR’s natural resources unit was launched in 2010 and has since completed six deals, acquiring nearly $1.2bn of assets in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Head of KKR Natural Resources said, “Porter Trimble and FDL bring the deep industry experience, technical insights and operating capabilities we are looking for in a partner.
“Together we think we are a differentiated buyer of non-core assets from companies looking to raise capital and free up the management time and attention that those assets currently consume.”
Earlier this month KKR secured a $250m investment from New Zealand’s Superannuation Fund for its energy funds.
