France’s Activa Capital backs MBO of nursery group La Maison Bleue

French mid-market private equity firm Activa Capital has backed the MBO of childcare nursery group La Maison Bleue.

The firm is now the company’s largest stakeholder and said it would look to finance further organic growth and bolt-on acquisitions.

La Maison Bleue was founded in 2004 by Sylvain Forestier, CEO, and managing director Antonia Ryckbosch. It manages 80 nurseries throughout France and employs over 1,000 childcare professionals. The company is currently opening 20 new daycare nurseries each year.

The company said it intends to double its size during the next four years and seeking a long-term private equity shareholder to accompany its growth both in France and internationally.

La Maison Bleue is the second new investment in 2012 for Activa, after Armatis-Laser in June 2012. In addition, Activa Capital has completed ten bolt-on acquisitions on behalf of its portfolio companiesduring the last twelve months.

Activa Capital manages over €500m. Its current portfolio includes investments across business services (Armatis-Laser Contact, Findis, Ergalis, Logitrade, ProNatura), consumer services (Primavista, Abrisud, BSH), retail (Sport 2000) and private education (Albarelle).
