Warburg Pincus has appointed Francesco Granata as its new executive-in-residence focusing on the healthcare sector.
Dr Granata will provide strategic counsel across the firm’s global healthcare portfolio from its London office.
The accomplished executive had more than 35 years experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, most recently as executive vice president of biotech firm Biogen.
He was previously responsible for $5bn in revenues and more than 5,000 employees as group vice president and president for Schering-Plough’s European and Canadian region.
Dr Granata said, “The European healthcare market represents an attractive proposition where Warburg Pincus will be able to apply its investment skills and healthcare experience to help companies and their management teams deliver growth.”
The growth investor has more than $30bn in assets under management across more than 125 companies, and has raised 13 private equity funds since being founded in 1966.
