KKR bolsters health care team with former Apax principal

Global private equity firm KKR has bolstered the firm’s health care team in Menlo Park after hiring former Apax Partners principal Ali Satvat as a director.

Satvat served as a principal on the health care investment team at Apax and managed new investments and portfolio companies across various health care sub-sectors. He began his career at Blackstone in 2000 and, prior to Apax , also worked in investment roles at Audax Group and Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation.

Jim Momtazee, a leader of KKR’s health care investment team, said, “There continue to be a number of developments that make health care an interesting sector for new investments. We have a strong team with deep industry expertise, and Ali is an important addition to that team.”

Since 1995, KKR has invested more than $9bn of equity in health care companies. Current portfolio companies include Accellent, Alliance Boots, Ambea, Biomet, HCA and Jazz Pharmaceuticals.
