TA Associates fashions 30 per cent deal for French retailer Zadig & Voltaire

16 Apr 2012

Private equity house TA Associates is believed to have sealed a deal to pick up a 30 per cent stake in French fashion brand Zadig & Voltaire.

The US-based firm’s purchase would value the company at about €380m according to sources which spoke to France’s Le Figaro newspaper.

TA, which generally focuses on technology, finance and business services, healthcare and consumer industries, already has British lifestyle brand Cath Kidston in its portfolio following a 2010 deal.

The UK retail chain is famed for selling twee floral-printed fabrics, while Zadig has more of a trendy urban style.

Zadig & Voltaire had sales of €130.6m and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation of €34.2m as of last July.

TA Associates’ London branch told AltAssets the firm did not have a press office, and said no one would be available to comment until their Boston office opened later today.

The firm has raised more than $16bn since it was founded in 1968.
