Polish insurance giant PZU eyes Mid Europa-backed Lux Med

Lux Med, the Polish medical services business backed by CEE-focused private equity firm Mid Europa Partners, is reported to have attracted the attention of the country’s largest insurer.

Polish insurance giant PZU is understood to be looking to acquire Lux Med, which is estimated to be worth about PLN1bn ($306m), Parkiet reported on Tuesday, although may seek a lower price.

Lux Med is one of Poland’s largest private medical services providers, with 71 medical offices and one hospital, in a country where healthcare is typically sourced from the state.

Mid Europa Partners bought the business in 2007.
