FSN Capital sells largest Nordic travel company to Expedia holding

Private equity firm FSN Capital has exited the Nordic region’s largest travel management company through a sale to Expedia company Egencia.

The mid-market Nordic investor has integrated 11 acquisitions into the company since buying it in 2005, divested non-core assets and expanded into markets such as Finland and the Philippines.

FSN managing partner and VIA chairman Frode Strand-Nielsen said, “Together with management we have transformed VIA Travel from a regional to a leading player in the Nordic market, lifting customer and employee satisfaction along with market share and profitability.

“We are confident that VIA Travel will continue its successful growth as part of the world’s largest travel company.

“Egencia is a great new owner for VIA Travel, providing a global presence and a technological edge to meet customers’ needs.”

Founded in 2000, FSN targets control investments in Nordic companies it believes have significant potential to become international leaders.

FSN Capital agreed to buy Norwegian women’s clothing retailer PM Retail in January.
