Nordic private equity firm EQT Partners is said to be nearing the sale of Leybold Optics to a strategic buyer after acquiring the German vacuum technology business more than a decade ago, Reuters reported on Friday.
Leybold’s technology is used for optics, automotive industries, architectural glass markets and systems for solar and photovoltaic applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The business, which employs around 475 staff, posted revenues of €144m and EBITDA of €6m in 2010. The firm bought a 90.2 per cent stake in the company in 2001 through its EQT III vehicle.
EQT is also looking to sell its majority stake in Finnish bathroom ceramics maker Sanitec, in a sale process which could attract offers of around €1bn.
