Celebrity favourite Hudson Jeans could be sold by Webster, Fireman Capital

12 Jul 2012

Private equity-backed Hudson Jeans, a clothing line favoured by celebrities including David Beckham and Jessica Alba, could be put up for sale.

Webster Capital and Fireman Capital, the firm founded by former Reebok CEO Paul Fireman, originally bought into the company in March 2009.

The sale could raise about $150m according to sources cited by Reuters, which quoted Fireman Capital as saying it was exploring the possibility of bringing in new investors to fuel expansion.

That sale price would be ten times the company’s 2012 EBITDA, and just under double its $85m revenue.

Hudson jeans sell for about $150 each and are associated with A-list stars including Angelina Jolie and Jude Law, while Mick Jagger’s daughter Georgia (pictured) has also designed a collection for the brand.

Other investments made by Webster include the Robert Redford-founded Sundance Catalog Company and radio broadcaster Vox AM/FM.
