Accel, Tiger support customer care company Freshdesk with $5m financing

Tiger Global Management and Accel Partners have invested $5m into Indian customer support software provider Freshdesk.

The company said the Series B funding will be used to extend its product features and expand its global support team.

Freshdesk has tripled its customer base since closing its Series A financing round in October last year by offering customers services such as social network support channels as well as traditional phone and email.

Shekhar Kirani from Accel said, “We have been impressed by the Freshdesk team’s ability to identify what customers really want in their help desk, and quickly roll out these capabilities into the product.

“This additional capital will help Freshdesk reach a broader base of businesses big and small.”

Freshdesk CEO Girish Mathrubootham said, “Businesses need an affordable solution to get closer to their customers and engage with them across mobile, social and traditional channels simultaneously.”

New York-based Tiger Global focuses on ten-year private equity and hedge fund investments aimed at growth-oriented companies in the internet and technology sectors.

Earlier today Accel announced a second co-investment with IDG Ventures India in providing $5m of financing to Indian medical company Forus Health.
