International law firm McDermott Will & Emery plans to expand its UK private equity practice by hiring two new partners.
Mark Davis will become the new head of the firm’s London buyout unit, with his current colleague Russell Van Praagh also joining the team.
Davis was ranked in The Legal 500 as a leading private equity lawyer focusing on cross-border and leveraged buyouts and exits, as well as M&A transactions.
Van Praagh specialises in private equity and investment work for both investors and management, and advises on M&A, joint ventures and general corporate and commercial issues.
The new hires represent the latest move in a continuing expansion of the law firm’s European operations, following the opening of a new office in Paris and office moves in London, Brussels and Milan.
Hugh Nineham, partner and head of McDermott’s London office, said, “With their outstanding reputations and wide-ranging experience, Mark and Russell constitute very important additions to our London office and, indeed, McDermott’s European platform generally.
“Their work with many of Europe’s top private equity players will give McDermott valuable leadership as we continue to expand our capabilities for our clients across Europe.
“Mark and Russell will work closely with a range of other practice groups, helping to foster collaboration across our international platform.”
