Wilson, who left Palamon in June this year, will work alongside chief investment partner Alex Fortescue and the existing 16-strong investment team.
At Palamon, Wilson was involved in the QualitySolicitors, Eneas Energy and SAV Credit deals. He has also served as a director at Candover, where he was involved in the acquisitions of Stork and Hilding Anders.
Wilson’s appointment came shortly after Electra promoted Alex Cooper-Evans to head of investor relations and Sarah Williams to investment director.
Since October 1 2012, Electra has invested £330m and exited esure and Allflex, which generated returns of three and 15 times respectively.
The firm had gross assets of £1.6bn as at the end of March this year.
