The round was also supported by former CIO of cable at Rogers Communications Tom Vari, former EVP of global marketing at Orange Group Richard Brennan and Zynstra chairman Jon Craton.
Zynstra said that the hybrid approach to cloud computing is already favoured by many large enterprises but to date has not been economically viable for smaller companies.
Member of the ventures team at Octopus Investments Frederic Lardieg said, “We’re very pleased to announce our investment in Zynstra.
“We have been really impressed by the team. They are seasoned entrepreneurs and bring with them a wealth of experience, having successfully built and sold their previous company Cramer Systems.
“At Zynstra they are developing a really exciting product that provides an innovative and cost efficient IT solution to small businesses, and has the potential to be a game-changing technology in the hybrid cloud market. We are looking forward to partnering the team as they continue to develop the business.”
Earlier this week Octopus participated in an $18m round for cross-border transaction network Calastone led by Accel Partners.
