Platina soaks up Italian solar plants

5 Aug 2011

Platina Partners, a private equity firm specialising in renewable energy buy-outs, has confirmed it has acquired three solar plants in Italy.

The London-based firm has agreed to purchase 15MW of capacity and plans to increase that share to between 30MW and 50MW in the near future, in a bid to increase its interest in Italy’s growing photovoltaic power sector.

Since its inception, Platina has been involved in a combined construction and operational portfolio of over 300MW. Its European development portfolio comprises over 1,000MW of wind, solar, hydro and biomass projects.

In November last year, the firm acquired a group of ten solar projects from Italian construction firm Degennaro Group.
