London-based private equity firm Kelso Place Asset Management has appointed former Sun European CEO Philip Dougall as a partner.
Prior to joining Kelso Place, Dougall was a managing partner at Hudson Capital Partners, a consulting firm focused on providing credit solutions for UK mid-market and SME businesses.
From 2003 to 2009, he was the CEO and managing director of Sun European Partners, which invests in underperforming and distressed European businesses. He also spent 12 years, from 1991 to 2003, with Lehman Brothers, ultimately as a managing director and co-head of the firm’s European telecommunications practice.
“Phil has a wealth of experience and knowledge of the turnaround landscape, which will be vital for us as we prepare for a period of increased deal flow,” said Sion Kearsey, a managing partner at Kelso Place.
“In particular, the experience he garnered from his time at Sun European Partners showcases his skills, which we are confident will be much in demand in the coming months. I am delighted that he has chosen to come and work with us and we look forward to working together to take Kelso Place to the next stage of our development,” he added.
Kelso Place was founded in 2000 and is currently investing a £100m special situations fund, which it closed in December 2009. The appointment of Philip Dougall takes the firm’s investment team to nine.
