Italian private equity firm Idea Capital has partnered with fellow investor Nord Est to acquire a 32 per cent stake in automotive safety and security company Meta-Fin.
Each firm invested €12.5m, from the €100m Idea Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Growth Fund and Nem Sviluppo Imprese II fund, respectively.
Meta-Fin is the sub-holding of Meta System Group which owns 100 per cent of Meta System and 85 per cent of Austrian company Dolphin Technologies. Meta System specialises in safety and security systems for the automotive sector, in power electronics, in telematics technologies and car power devices.
The company today counts 700 employees spread into three productive plants located in Reggio Emilia and Mornago in Italy and Shenzen, China. In 2013 the company registered revenues of €150m, and an EBITDA of €22m.
Sergio Buonanno, team leader of Idea Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Growth fund, said, “The company has heavily invested in R&D in recent years and it now faces great growth opportunities related to the expansion of its client portfolio both in its traditional and in the newly entered sectors, thanks to some recently-launched very innovative products”.
Idea Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Growth Fund closed in March 2013. It focuses on growth capital and buyout deals targeting SMEs developing technologies and services for energy efficiency and sustainable growth, in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Israel.
