US firm Horizon Asset Management has named Douglas Kramer, a former partner at Goldman Sachs, as CEO.
Kramer’s previous post was at New York private equity firm Quadrangle, where he served as group COO. Before that, he was head of Goldman’s global manager strategies group. Kramer joined Goldman in 1999, becoming a managing director in 2003 and a partner in 2005.
He will join Hugh Ross, a fellow alumnus of Goldman’s global manager strategies group, who became Horizon’s COO in April 2009.
According to Horizon chairman and CIO Murray Stahl, Kramer will oversee all of the firm’s non-investment functions and its strategic business development.
In a letter to clients, Stahl said, “We look forward to leveraging Doug’s successful track record and significant relationships with institutional and high net worth clients as we continue to invest in our investment process and our firm more generally.”
Headquartered in New York, with a marketing office in Charlotte, North Carolina, Horizon has $7bn in assets under management.
