Hearst Ventures hires two new staff members as well as promoting another

Hearst Ventures, which is the venture capital division of media company Hearst, has named two new senior hires.

Jacqueline Cegla has been named as a senior associate at the firm’s London office where she will spend time in the UK and Israel.

Isabel Lo has also joined the firm, being named as an associate in Shanghai.

In addition to the new hires, Hearst Ventures has promoted Kunal Mehta to principal in the firm’s New York office.

In this new position, Jacqueline Cegla will seek investments across Israel and Europe. Prior to this role, Cegla served as an associate at fellow venture capital firm MMC Ventures.

Isabel Lo will source and execute investments in China. Before Hearst, Lo served as a senior investment associate at early-stage venture capital form Amphora Capital.

Hearst Ventures senior managing director Ken Bronfin said, “At a time when markets are understandably cautious, the addition of Jacqueline and Isabel alongside Kunal’s promotion, serve to strengthen our skilled teams across the key regions of EMEA, the U.S. and China.

“These hires –plus more to come – underscore our commitment to finding the world’s brightest founders and most innovative ideas as the adoption of new technologies is rapidly accelerating.”

Following the promotion, Kunal Mehta will continue to be based in the New York office. Mehta joined Hearst in 2018, moving from his role of managing technology investments at NYU Innovation Venture Fund.

Mehta said. “While this is a challenging time in global markets, we are actively investing in entrepreneurs. I look forward to discovering and pursuing the many opportunities that exist.”
