Asterion Industrial Partners has raised €500m for the first close of its European infrastructure vehicle, just four months after registering the fund with Spanish regulators.
The firm’s founding partners include former global co-head of KKR Infrastructure Jesús Olmos and former KKR director Winnie Wutte.
They are now joined by ex-KKR Infrastructure director Guido Mitrani as the firm’s latest partner, a statement from Asterion said.
The firm is looking to pull in €850m for Asterion Industrial Infra Fund I, which is expected to reach final close by the summer. Asterion has also generated €120m for co-investment alongside the fund.
An SEC filing from January shows the fund receiving around $360m of capital commitments from at least 12 LPs.
The Madrid-headquartered firm will use the fund to target European, mid-market, infrastructure assets in sectors such as telecommunications, energy & utilities and mobility.
The firm has already made its first investment through the fund, in a 50/50 partnership with Mirova to buy a co-controlling stake in French utility group, Proxiserve.
