IVP, Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Levine back mattress maker Casper


bedroom-bliss-no-3-315566-mInstitutional Venture Partners have led a $55m Series B round in mattress maker Casper, with participated from Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Actor Toby Maguire, musician Adam Levine and talent manger Scooter Braun also joined the round, along with Pritzker Group Venture Capital.

Existing investors New Enterprise Associates, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, Vaizra Investments, SV Angel, Slow Ventures, and Queensbridge Ventures also took part in the round.

The new round brings Casper’s total fundraising amount to $69.95m, having previously announced a $13.1M in Series A funding round led by NEA in June last year.

In conjunction with the funding, IVP general partner Dennis Phelps has been named a board observer.

Phelps said, “Casper is already conquering the US mattress market with its category-owning brand, and is poised to meet the overwhelming demand for international disruption of this industry.”

New York-based Casper, which launched in April 2014 and earned $1M in revenue in its first 28 days, is a sleep startup which produces an award winning eponymous mattress

The new investment will provide the company with the resources to further its innovation arm, Casper Labs, and engineer, test, and launch new products on a faster timeline.
