Wisconsin looks to sell private equity portfolio


capitop madisonThe State of Wisconsin Investment Board is selling a portfolio of private equity investments that was worth $203m at the end of last year, public documents showed.

The portfolio comprises 48 with the state set to retain 14 of them, which are managed by Brinson Partners.

Winsconsin’s pension system currently has assets of around $100bn and plans to invest $1.2bn in private equity this year.

It will make further investments in its existing GPs and back new managers on a very selective basis, according to the documents.

Back in 2012 Wisconsin sold $1bn worth of private equity funds in one of the largest ever secondary deals involving an institutional investor.
