CalPERS commits nearly $4.5bn to private equity


cal flagRetirement system CalPERS has made commitments of nearly $4.5bn to private equity funds in the year to date.

The LP has backed 12 private equity funds and participated in five co-investment opportunities, said Pensions and Investments.

The largest commitment was made to CVC, which secured $667m for its Capital Partners VI fund.

Calpers also committed $600m and $500m to Cerberus CP Partners and Apollo Investment Fund VIII, respectively.

First Reserve received a $400m commitment, while Permira, Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and Onex Partners secured around $300m.

Lats month CalPERS released its annual results, which showed that its overall returns reached 18.4 per cent in the year to end-June, while its overall assets passed $300bn.
