Pension giant CalPERS picked the latest fundraises from Leonard Green and Madison Dearborn as recipients of almost $1.2bn of commitments.
The LP major agreed to commit $600m to the enormous $12bn Green Equity Investors VIII fund, which was closed earlier this week.
Jade Equity Investors, which is also managed by Leonard Green picked up a $155m commitment to help it to reach $2.75bn, according to CalPERS’ website.
The firm raised $9.1bn for its previous flagship vehicle three years ago, with an additional $500m coming from its partners.
Madison Dearborn, meanwhile, has received a $400m commitment to its eighth flagship fundraise, the pension fund revealed.
AltAssets revealed in October that the firm was out eyeing up to $4.5bn for Madison Dearborn Capital Partners VIII, just above the $4.43bn it gathered for Fund VII in 2016.
Other big recent commitments from CalPERS have included $550m for Advent’s GPE flagship fund, and Permira Advisors picking up €520m for its seventh flagship fundraise.
