Law firm Weil, Gotshall & Manges has named Matthew Stewart as a partner.
He will become part of the firm’s private equity practice and is set to be based in its Silicon Valley office.
Stewart joins the firm from King & Spalding, where he was previously a partner in the its mergers and acquisitions team.
He has previously advised private equity funds, growth equity investors and strategic investors on mergers and acquisitions.
Stewart said, “I am excited to be joining Weil’s leading global Private Equity platform and its talented team of lawyers.
“In particular, I have long been impressed by the quality of lawyers and clients the Firm has attracted in Silicon Valley.”
Executive partner Barry Wolf believes that Stewart will be an “invaluable addition” to the private equity platform. He added, “We are thrilled to welcome him to the firm.”
