Private equity firm Warburg Pincus is set to hire former CEO of Dutch cable business Ziggo René Obermann as a partner.
The appointment is expected to be made official by the end of the year following the completion of the sale of Ziggo to Liberty Global.
Prior to joining Ziggo, Obermann served as CEO of Deutsche Telekom. He will be based in London and will help the private equity firm source deals in the telecommunications sector and in Germany.
Ziggo was backed by Warburg Pincus and fellow private equity firm Cinven.
Warbugand fellow private equity firm KKR are reportedly weighing bids for older drugs from pharmaceutical groupsGlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi.
