Sigma Prime Ventures hires General Catalyst co-founder John Simon

Early stage technology venture capital firm Sigma Prime Ventures has added General Catalyst Partners co-founder John Simon to the firm as managing director.

“We believe that great companies are built not only with a solid founding team and innovative technology, but also with the support of investors and advisors that have deep operating experience starting and running entrepreneurial companies”, said Bob Davoli, managing director at Sigma Prime Ventures.

“John’s background as a highly successful entrepreneur, CEO, and venture capitalist fits perfectly with our team, and we’re delighted to have him on-board.”

Before joining Sigma Prime, Simon served as managing director at General Catalyst, where he led investments in companies including m-Qube, Taleo, ProfitLogic, Maven Networks and Bullhorn.

Previously, he was founder, chairman and CEO of UroMed Corporation, a company he helped lead through IPO and subsequent merger to form Alliant Medical Technologies.

Founded in 1984 Sigma Prime has offices in Boston and New York City, and invests across the US with a focus on the East Coast.

The firm focuses on SaaS, cloud, mobile, disruptive technologies and technology-enabled service companies.
