Private equity firm Sarona Asset Management has promoted its managing director for fund investments Menno Derks to partner.
Netherlands-based Derks has more than 10 years’ investing experience with a strong focus on private equity in frontier and emerging markets.
Previously he was a founding member of the in-house private equity team at Dutch pension fund PGGM where he developed its Asia strategy.
The new partner previously served for more than four years as an investment officer at Dutch development bank FMO, where he focused on private equity investments in high-growth markets.
Sarona CEO Gerhard Pries said, “Working with Menno is a great pleasure and an extremely rewarding experience.
“During the past 15 months he has done a sterling job at improving and further professionalising our fund investment capabilities and we are honoured to have him join us as partner.”
Sarona has offices in Canada and the Netherlands and invests in countries with GDP per capita of between $500 and $12,000.
