Private equity fund investor Pantheon has hired Jie Gong as a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office.
Pantheon manages over $25bn globally and was the first private equity fund investor to establish a local presence in Asia, opening the office over 20 years ago.
Jie joins Pantheon after six years at Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners, where she most recently was executive director and portfolio manager for Asia, leading Morgan Stanley’s buyout and growth equity fund investment and co-investment activities across Asia.
Prior to Morgan Stanley, Jie was previously with JPMorgan and the International Finance Corporation.
Chris Meads, chief investment officer at Pantheon, said, “We are delighted to welcome Jie to Pantheon. She will play a significant role in helping us to build on our market leading position in Chinese private equity, and more generally throughout Asia across primaries, secondaries and co-investments.”
Last week Pantheon secured an investment mandate from German pension fund BVK, focused on primary buyout, growth equity and venture capital funds in mature markets in North America, Europe and Australia and growth markets in Asia, Latin America and Africa.
