Palatine picks Grant Thornton’s Ashton as new business development director

union jack 170UK-based Palatine Private Equity has hired Charlotte Ashton from Grant Thornton Corporate Finance as its new business development director.

Ashton spent three years at Grant Thornton working on transactions including Billington’s acquisition of Bar Foods, the sale of Electricity Network Solutions to buyout-backed French group SPIE, and the sale of The Mansfield Group to South African logistics group Bidvest.

She will be tasked with developing relationships with high-growth, entrepreneurial businesses, the corporate finance community and intermediaries.

Palatine managing partner Gary Tipper said, “We’re delighted to have Charlotte on board.

“We have continued to build our business development resource and Charlotte brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and industry contacts.

“Developing relationships with entrepreneurial and fast growing business is an important part of our strategy and the addition of Charlotte to the team will help us continue this.”

Last summer Palatine held a £150m final close for its second fund thanks to strong overseas support.

About 55 per cent of commitments to the vehicle were from non-UK LPs, with £100m coming from existing backers and £50m from new investors.

Those new faces included GE Pension Trust, Nippon Life, a large German based insurance company and a London-based family office.
