Mishcon de Reya ramps up private equity team with new hires

Simon Sale Mishcon de ReyaLondon-headquartered law firm Mishcon de Reya has poached a trio of private equity specialists from competitor Dundas & Wilson to expand its own department.

Partners Simon Sale, pictured, and Nadim Meer and senior associate Allison Keyse will keep the same job titles for their move between the firms, Mishcon said.

The move doubles the number of private equity-focused partners at Mishcon, with the new hires joining Kevin McCarthy and Andrew Rimmington.

Sale and Meer have worked together at D&W for the past 14 years, with the former joining as partner in 2005 and the latter being made partner two years later.

Mishcon head of corporate Nick Davis said, “As a department and in this economic environment, we have seen the world of financing and investment change dramatically.

“Investment is increasingly coming from private sources – from venture capitalists and private equity, high net worths, family offices as opposed to banks or capital markets.

“We have taken the decision to structure ourselves accordingly and, as a mid-size corporate department, to focus increasingly on serving the needs of clients within the arena of private capital and ventures.

“It is for this reason we have hired partners of Simon’s and Nadim’s calibre – to bolster our existing private equity team and to have them help in leading the strategic direction of the department.

“We are delighted to welcome them on board.”
