Early stage venture capital firm Mayfield Fund has hired former portfolio company StorSimple CEO Ursheet Parikh as partner.
Parikh was hired for his deep cloud, networking and storage expertise in order to round out the existing five-strong team, Mayfield said.
He was founder and CEO of StorSimple, which was acquired by Microsoft.
Mayfield Fund managing director Navin Chaddha said, “Ursheet has a lean-forward personality, is a proven founder CEO and respected IT executive who will provide hands-on guidance to early-stage entrepreneurs.
“I have worked closely with him at StorSimple, where as CEO he drove strategy and customer adoption and delivered value to employees, investors and strategic partner Microsoft.
“He will be a key member of our leadership team and help further anchor Mayfield as the go-to firm for cloud, data center, SaaS, and big data-focused entrepreneurs.”
Greycroft Partners also helped finance the company for the first time through the round, which coincided with the New York Times joining the company’s content licensing scheme.
Existing backers FirstMark Capital and IA Ventures re-upped their investments in the business.
