New York-based private equity firm Lightyear Capital has promoted Michal Petrzela to managing director.
Petrzela joined Lightyear in 2005 after working at Barclays Capital in London London in the financial institutions group, where he helped to develop a balance sheet advisory practice.
He has also worked at Credit Suisse in New York and Arthur Andersen.
Petrzela will join Lightyear’s investment committee, which also includes Chris Casciato, Michael Doppelt, Stewart Gross, Thierry Ho, Donald Marron, and Mark Vassallo.
Lightyear chairman and founder Donald Marron said, “Michal has developed keen investment insights into the financial services industry and has gained substantial operational experience that enables him to add value to Lightyear’s investments.
Since its launch in 2000 Lightyear has raised $2.5bn to invest in the asset management, banks, brokerage, financial technology, insurance, and specialty finance sectors.
Last December Lightyear teamed up with employees of RidgeWorth Investments to carve the business out of SunTrust Banks in a deal worth up to $265m.
