KKR’s Ken Mehlman succeeds Mark Tresnowski as PEGCC chairman

boardroom2_lrgThe Private Equity Growth Capital Council (PEGCC) has appointed KKR’s head of global public affairs Ken Mehlman as chairman of the board of directors.

Mehlman, pictured, is succeeding Mark Tresnowski, managing director and general counsel at Madison Dearborn Partners.

Mehlman has previously held high level positions at the White House and has served as chairman of the Republican National Committee.

At KKR, Mehlman created what PEGCC said was a “robust” environmental, social and governance (ESG) program for the firm and its portfolio companies.

PEGCC President and CEO Steve Judge said, “As a member of the PEGCC’s Board of Directors, Ken has long been a driving force behind our major initiatives.

“We’re very pleased to have him as our new chairman. Ken is a unique talent with two decades of experience at the highest levels of government, politics and business.

“The PEGCC and our members will benefit tremendously from his leadership, advice and counsel.”

In September this year PEGCC called for the US Securuties and Exchange Commission to scrap proposed amendments to new rules allowing buyouts firms to advertise their funds more widely.
