Joseph Plumeri KKRUS private equity firm KKR has hired ex-Willis Group chairman and CEO Joseph Plumeri to its ever-growing bank of senior advisors.

Plumeri spent 12 years as chairman of the insurance broker, which used to be owned by KKR, following a 32-year career at Citigroup and its predecessor companies.

As well as joining the firm Plumeri has been installed on the board of directors of KKR portfolio company First Data.

KKR co-founder and co-CEO Henry Kravis said, “Joe led the transformation of Willis from a company with an enterprise value of less than $2bn to one with nearly $10bn.

“At Willis, he earned a reputation for being passionate about client service and for his commitment to integrity and transparency.

“He will be an asset to KKR as a senior advisor and I look forward to working with him again both at the firm and on the First Data board.”

In March KKR hired former Morgan Stanley chairman and chief executive John Mack as a senior advisor, who joined an increasingly experienced team featuring former HSBC Holdings group chairman Sir John Bond and ex-Caterpillar CEO James Owens.
