Growth equity firm JMI Equity has promoted principal Brian Hersman to general partner.
Hersman, who is based in San Diego, joined the firm in 2008 after working as a senior associate at Vista Equity Partners and a business analyst at McKinsey & Company.
JMI founder and general managing partner Harry Gruner said, “Brian consistently adds value to our portfolio companies, including to the three JMI investments he has led – BigMachines, Innovative Interfaces and PowerPlan.
“He is a thoughtful and rigorous investor, and we are very pleased to recognize his hard work and dedication.”
Since its inception in 1992 JMI has invested in 110 businesses and currently has more than $2.1bn of committed capital under management. JMI raised its largest fund to date in November 2010 by netting $875m from LPs, exceeding its $800m target.
In July this year the firm promoted six members of staff including Charles Dieveney and Randy Guttman, who were named COO and CFO, respectively.
