The 48-year-old has spent more than 20 years as an entrepreneur, product innovator and enterprise IT investor, having started his career at PeopleSoft in the early 1990s.
He rose to vice chairman of that company and served on the board of directors through the takeover of the business by Oracle in 2004.
He launched human resources business Workday a year later and was named CEO in 2012.

Existing investors Nokia Growth Partners and Inventus Capital Partners also participated in the round, which brought the Bangalore-based company’s fundraising total to $27m.
