Venture capital firm Industry Ventures has strengthened its team by hiring payments and big data expert Trevor Rubel as a venture partner and Kunal Jain as an associate.
Prior to joining the firm, Rubel held several senior positions at Bank of America Merchant Services, including executive vice president of product, strategy and business development.
He has also served as a senior executive at First Data Corporation, running information services and international financial services products.
In his new job, Rubel will focus on identifying and executing direct secondary and co-investments into companies in the payments and big data sectors.
Industry Ventures managing director Hans Swildens said, “Industry Ventures has had a collaborative and productive relationship with Trevor for several years and he has been instrumental in working with several general partners and their portfolio-company CEOs.
“We are thrilled to formalize this relationship and look forward to his continued efforts in evaluating direct co-investments and creating liquidity for leading company shareholders.
“With the additions of Trevor and Kunal to our investment team, we are improving our sourcing and due diligence capabilities to support a healthy and dynamic venture capital ecosystem.”
Last month it was reported that Industry Ventures was seeking $400m for its seventh secondaries venture fund following strong performance from its predecessor vehicles.
