Harvard Management Company CEO Jane Mendillo to resign


Jane MendilloHead of Harvard University’s $32.7bn endowment Jane Mendillo will step down at the end of the year.

She told Bloomberg that she will not be looking for another finance job and will pursue personal interests.

Mendillo has worked for Harvard for 21 years including the past six year as CEO of Harvard Management Company. Her salary was $4.8m in 2012.

“I wanted to choose a moment when things were on a positive trajectory and the future looked bright. The organization and the portfolio are in excellent shape and I feel like we’re firing on all cylinders,” said Mendillo.

In March this year Harvard poached head of private equity from Teacher Retirement System of Texas Richard Hall to oversee its own buyout decisions.

Harvard had been without a director of private equity and venture capital for most of the last 12 months for most of the prior year.
