GGV Capital names ex-Baidu executive Zhu partner

china chinese flagUS and China focused venture capital firm GGV Capital has hired former COO of Chinese search engine Baidu David Zhu as a partner.

The firm said that it has known Zhu for over 12 years and have worked on a number of projects including Social Touch, a social media management platform, which was formed by GGV Capital and Buddy Media, and E Dian Bao.

Zhu has more than 15 years of working experience in IT industry and over 11 years managerial experience, including 5 years senior executive experience in Baidu.

GGV managing director Jixun Foo said, “David brings unique insight into the relationship between large companies and start-ups companies, and the partnership opportunities and the operational challenges for each one.

“As the US and China tech economies continue to convergence, David’s experience will be invaluable in helping our portfolio companies navigate these important changes.”

Last month it was reported that GGV launched a new fund with a $500m target.
