Venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners has appointed former Greylock Partners principal Donald Fischer as a partner.
Fischer will be responsible for identifying and leading investments in early stage businesses.
Prior to joining General Catalyst, Fischer spent five years at Greylock, where he most recently focused on investments in big data, open source, cloud, and other enterprise technology sectors.
Fischer has also held consulting and development roles at Inktomi, which was acquired by Yahoo!, and Oracle.
General Catalyst managing director Larry Bohn said, “Donald has a great mix of operational experience and a proven track record of leading investments in winning companies.
“Donald’s a natural addition to our enterprise-focused investment team and he exemplifies our philosophy of entrepreneurs investing in entrepreneurs.
“We look forward to having him on board to continue our track record of investing in early stage companies that can transform industries and become market leaders.”
General Catalyst’s portfolio companies include trading marketplace Listia, which raised a $9m Series A in October.
