General Atlantic hires Advent’s Crawford to lead retail, consumer dealmaking


andrew crawford General AtlanticUS growth equity firm General Atlantic has hired Advent International’s Andrew Crawford as managing director to lead its retail and consumer investments.

Crawford spent more than a decade at Advent working on deals including Bojangles, Charlotte Russe and Five Below.

GA’s most recent investments in the sector include Tory Burch and Designs.

Crawford said, “I have long admired General Atlantic and its long-term, value-added approach to building great companies.

“GA’s global footprint and team of highly experienced professionals will be very attractive for retail and consumer companies looking to expand beyond their native borders into developed as well as emerging economies.”

General Atlantic CEO William Ford said Andy would work closely with Jeff Leng, who pioneered the firm’s entry into the consumer sector with investments in Zhong Sheng, Sun Art and Meituan.
