Ex-ArcelorMittal Mining CEO Kukielski joins Warburg Pincus


kukielskiPrivate equity major Warburg Pincus has hired former ArcelorMittal Mining CEO Peter Kukielski as an executive in residence.

Kukielski will be responsible for identifying and evaluating investment opportunities in the mining industry with a view to forming a mining company, the firm said in a statement.

Prior to joining ArcelorMittal, Kukielski held senior executive positions at several other mining companies, including Teck Resources, Falconbridge and and Rio Algom.

Warburg Pincus managing director Somit Varma said, “Peter has tremendous depth and experience in the mining industry globally, most recently as the leader of one of the world’s largest mining businesses.

“We believe that there are a number of attractive investment opportunities to evaluate in the mining sector and are pleased to be partnering with such an experienced individual as Peter.”

Warburg’s other executives in residence in the energy sector include Venari Resources CEO Brian Reinsborough and head of Delonex Energy Rahul Dhir.

Earlier this month Warburg exited its investment in specialty pharmaceutical company JHP Group for a return of three times.
