mccombeVenture capital firm Enterprise Ventures has put former Bank of Scotland corporate banker Stewart McCombe in charge of its £15m North West Fund for Mezzanine.

The fund which will now be managed by McCombe was launched earlier this year to invest £750,000 to £2m in established businesses.

The vehicle is part of the £155m North West Fund, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank.

Enterprise Ventures CEO Jonathan Diggines said, “In addition to his background as a corporate banker, Stewart’s work with charities and SMEs has given him a broad skillset and wide range of contacts.

“He also shares our own belief in the importance of providing access to finance for small and medium sized businesses in the regions.”

Enterprise Ventures provides venture and growth capital as well as loans to small UK-based businesses at all stages of development and in all sectors. The firm invested £24m across 160 small businesses last year.
