Solaro was previously responsible for building global strategic partnerships for the Android operating system while at Google.
Drive said the appointment was designed to accelerate its mobile technology investments.
In February the firm hired Robert Hatta and Ned Schwartz as partners.
Earlier that month it revealed a final close for its debut fund, which will be used to target technology, healthcare and consumer companies in the US Midwest.
Solaro said, “Coming from Google and Android, I know what it feels like to be in a hyper-growth environment.
“I see all of the raw ingredients necessary to create similar levels of world-changing outcomes here in the Midwest.
“I am thrilled to join Drive Capital and help provide entrepreneurs the capital and support needed to make these sorts of results happen,” said Solaro.
